RAV4 EV 2014

MPGe

Since RAV4 EV uses no gas, it gets a miles per gallon equivalent, or mpge, estimate. Think of this as being similar to mpg, but instead of representing miles per gallon of the vehicle’s fuel type, it represents the number of miles the vehicle can go using a quantity of fuel with the same energy content as a gallon of gasoline.

Now and in the future

When compared to the average car, Prius alone has saved American consumers more than an estimated 1.4 billion gallons of gas, $3.8 billion in fuel costs, and 20.5 million tons of CO2 emissions. But we're only just beginning. In 2010, Toyota partnered with Tesla Motors, based in Palo Alto, California, to create electric vehicles (EVs) like the Toyota all-electric SUV: RAV4 EV. And in 2015, we'll introduce a fuel cell vehicle, which will rely solely on batteries and hydrogen, with zero emission water vapor as exhaust.

Range

RAV4 EV has an EPA-rated driving range of 103 miles 3—plenty of range for most daily commutes and the longest EPA-rated driving range of any non-luxury electric vehicle, just in case you decide to take the long way home.

Intelligent Touch

The vehicle’s multimedia system and dual zone climate control system are operated by Intelligent Touch capacitive touch-sensor controls. You can select a radio station or adjust the temperature with just a light tap of your finger.
RAV4 EV comes with the Star Safety System™, a suite of six active safety features that include Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control, 25 Traction Control, Anti-lock Brake System, Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist 26 and Smart Stop Technology®. 27

Six airbags

Ready, just in case you’re not. RAV4 EV includes a driver and front passenger Advanced Airbag System, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, and front and rear Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags (RSCA). 29
